Hello again.
Tidying out my hovel today, I found every single Draw Roulette picture I ever drew (if you’re looking at this on your dash and wondering who I am, I used to do pictures on Chat Roulette back when that was a thing). I was pleased to see them, as you may be able to tell from my face.
Wondering what to do with them. Can’t throw them away. Seems a waste (of paper if nothing else).

So it seems that ending Draw Roulette was the ultimate publicity stunt: 200 new followers, Christ knows how many reblogs, and a lot of people sending me emails - either asking for custom drawings (which I promise I will get to once my exams are done in Monday) or asking whether I’m really retiring, or doing a Kenny Rogers and pretending to retire so I can make an illustrious comeback a year later.
There may be more in future, but they’ll be extremely irregular and I am not Kenny Rogers. Chat Roulette has changed fundamentally lately; the option to only connect to other people with live cams has been removed, so you get way more blank connections than when I started. So you get one live person for every ten blank screens, and when you consider that only about 1 in 10 of those live people take the bait and see it through, that means in excess of 100 click-throughs to get one drawing. It’s getting much harder to do what I did when I started; on my first night I had a month’s worth of Draw Roulette in the bag. I tried a few weeks back and only managed to get two useable drawings. It’s a little disheartening, but there’s nothing to be done about it.
I had a lot of fun doing it though, and it’s been excellent practice - I went from being a shitty artist to being a slightly less shitty one, and began taking drawing seriously; I went out and bought a graphics tablet at long last, something I’ve been on the fence about for a long time. I’ve started writing comics, and making them on a regular basis. Draw Roulette was a kick up the arse in that respect. And I met some primetime, grade-A freakazoids that I would never have met otherwise.
So that’s how it is.
This post ended on a bit of a down-note, so here’s the greatest song of all time.

So that’s it. Draw Roulette - or at least Draw Roulette as I do it - is done. There’s been more than a hundred, but the well is running a little dry (when you put somebody on the spot for a drawing idea, the chances of them coming up with something that is both interesting and original diminish with each passing punter).
So. What next?
Once my exams are finished for this year - when I’m not drawing awful pictures I’m a biomedical science student at Manchester Metropolitan University - I’m going to be starting a semi-regular comic (the address of which I will post at my personal site and here), and I’ve been doing some work for some indie publications around Manchester. The place to go if you want to keep up with my post-Draw Roulette work is ivormarlow.com.
First off the bat, The Shrieking Violet recently accepted this horrid comic I drew, which I’m assured is being published in the next issue.

I’ve posted that over at my personal Tumblr, and will begin posting its preliminary sketches - as well as some other things I’ve drawn - over there in due course.
Thanks for reading, thanks for all the extremely pleasant emails, and a big thanks to everybody I came across on Chat Roulette; every request of cocks and tits was like a ray of sunshine.

This guy was great. Very specific, very excited, and - when I eventually ended the suspense and turned the drawing around - seemed pleased with the result.
I’ve done dozens, maybe even hundreds, of drawings by now - this is my favourite of all time.

The first of the new widescreen format Chat Roulettes! How exotic. (This update came into effect months ago, but I had enough of these backed up that I took a month long break from it a while ago)
The shirt they referenced was this one, which is probably my favourite shirt. Most people who know me, both professionally and personally, think this is my best shirt too.

(“Shopping online… for braaaaains!”)
Here’s another tough customer, who I suspect had a heart attack and died while I was drawing. That’s a far more likely explanation than the alternative, which is that a human being didn’t find my drawings funny. Something for which there is no precedent.

It’s a sad day when there’s kids in the world that aren’t familiar with the oversized jumper - big enough for two people, replete with two neck holes - as a comedy device. The Two Ronnies died for nothing.

Yet another unicorn request here, but why stick with one horn? That’s boring. If I’d had the time (half the battle with this is keeping an eye on the punter to see if they’re about to click on and deprive you of the “money shot”, as it were) I’d have drawn the damn thing like a porcupine.

Of course, the first thought that went through my head was “dead flower near a crater”, but I put a little extra work in and saved the flower.
Also, note I didn’t fall into the centuries-old trap of giving a plant oxygen. This isn’t my first time to the rodeo, my friend.
